Registration/Uniform Fittings:

How can I register my child to cheer for LEAYSA?
Registration for the 2024 Fall Cheerleading season will open on Feb 12th, 2024. You can register online at http://www.leaysa.com/registration. Registration will end May 15, 2024. 
 
Are boys allowed to cheer?
YES! LEAYSA Cheer is open to boys and girls!
 
What is the participation age for LEAYSA Cheer?
LEAYSA Cheer accepts cheerleaders ranging from Pre-K through 8th grade.
 
What is the cost of registration?
Cheer registration for the 2024 calendar year will cost $350.  For your convenience we have broken this payment into as many as 4 easy payments.  Payment plan and first payment are based on registration date. Subsequent payments will be auto-drafted from the same account on the 15th of each month following.  To take advantage of the best payment system, please register in March. Registration closes Mat 15th and all payments must be collected by this time.
 
What form of payment is accepted at registration?
Payment is done online and most major credit cards are accepted. 
 
What does the registration cost cover?
Girls: Registration fee covers a custom fit uniform, cheer bag, camp wear, camp fee, pink socks, end of season trophy, insurance, city fees, coaches/team-mom/director training, printing fees, extravaganza fees, as well as scholarships for those in need.
Boys: Registration fee covers a custom fit uniform, megaphone, camp wear, camp fee, end of season trophy, insurance, city fees, coaches/team-mom/director training, printing fees, extravaganza fees, as well as scholarships for those in need.
 
What does the cheer uniform consist of?
Girls: Your child will be custom fit for her cheer uniform.  The uniform will consist of a shell, skirt, briefs, poms, socks, cheer bow, and a crop top.
 
Boys: Your child will be custom fit for his cheer uniform.  The uniform will consist of a shell, shorts, megaphone, and socks.
 
Are there any additional costs?
Individual squads are permitted to ask for additional fees to cover halftime snacks/drinks, cheer buckets/chairs, etc.  This is up to the coach’s discretion and not to exceed $25.00.  Homecoming mums and/or float decorations may be additional. However, everything outside of the registration fee is OPTIONAL and will not be required by any board member, cheer coach, or team mom.
 
Why does registration end so early?
Registration must close early enough to get uniforms ordered.  Uniforms are custom made for LEAYSA Cheer and to each child’s measurements, which can take 6-8 weeks.  Coaches must also have proper time for training.
 
Are late registrants accepted?
Due to uniform processing time LEAYSA Cheer is unable to accept late registrants. Please register prior to May 15, 2024.
 
Is there a sibling discount?
Yes, each additional sibling will have $25 reduced from the registration fee.
 
When are uniform fittings scheduled for?

What should my cheerleader wear to the uniform fitting?
It is easiest if cheerleaders wear a swim suit or sports bra and fitted shorts to uniform fittings as fitting may occur in an open gym.
 
 
Can my cheerleader cheer with a friend?
Requests can be made on the registration form.  However, as per our bylaws, the LEAYSA Cheer Board cannot guarantee these requests.
 
Can my cheerleader cheer for a specific coach and/or team?
Requests can be made on the registration form.  The LEAYSA Cheer Board makes every effort to keep previous squads together unless otherwise requested.  However, as per our bylaws, the LEAYSA Cheer Board cannot guarantee these requests.
 
When will I find out who my cheerleader's coach is?
LEAYSA Cheer is unable to form cheerleading squads until football has formed their teams.  The amount of football teams for each grade as well as the amount of volunteer coaches we have will help determine our cheerleading squads. All parents should receive a phone call and/or email from their cheerleading coach by August 1st.
 
 
What are the requirements to be a cheer coach?
Cheer coaches are required to pass a background check through the LEAYSA Cheer website prior to the beginning of the season. Coaches must also attend mandatory coaches training, cheer clinics and meetings held by the LEAYSA Cheer Board.
 
Can I be a cheer coach if I have never coached before?
Yes.  Coaches will be trained prior to the beginning of the season. Coaches will have a mandatory coaches training.  More information will follow.
 
Can I be a cheer coach if I have never cheered before?
Yes.  Head coaches are preferred to have a cheer background however all coaches will be properly trained prior to the start of the season.
 
Do I need a background check to be a team mom?
Yes, LEAYSA requires anyone working with the children to pass a mandatory background check. 
 
What are the responsibilities of the team mom?
Page 9 of the LEAYSA Bylaws/Handbook describes the responsibilities as:
TEAM MOM: 
• Shall be responsible for fully supporting LEAYSA CHEER Association fundraisers and encouraging every 
member of his/her squad to support and participate in the fundraising activities of LEAYSA CHEER. 
• Shall be responsible for attending all mandatory Team Mom meetings hosted by LEAYSA CHEER. 
• Must keep attendance records of practices on each player. 
• Will be responsible for enforcing the Player Participation Rule. 
• Must keep player allergies and medical conditions on file. 
• Shall be responsible for providing snacks and/or drinks at halftime. Snacks and drinks may not contain 
ingredients a cheerleader on the squad is allergic to. All snacks/drinks must be purchased using money collected 
from the squad. Team Moms are not financially responsible for snacks/drinks. 
• Must keep all parent contact information and have readily available. 
• Shall be responsible for collecting any squad fees as well as allocating these fees for their designated use. Such 
as, squad snacks/drinks, cheer buckets/chairs, bows, etc. 
 
 
 
When and where is practice?
Fall cheerleading practice will be held on Tuesday and Thursdays at Marion Field located on Lobo Ln. in Little Elm, Texas.  All grades, except Pre-k through 1st grade, will practice from 6:00-7:30pm.  Pre-k through 1st grade will practice from 6:00-7:00pm. Practices for rec cheer will begin August 2022.
 
Will all of the cheerleaders practice together?
All squads will have practice on the same days, at the same time, and at the same location.  However, cheerleaders will practice with their coach and will practice together as a squad!
 
What is proper practice attire?
Cheerleaders should wear practice shorts (jean shorts/pants are not acceptable) and a t-shirt, tank top and/or sports bra to practice. They should also wear athletic shoes (flip flops are not acceptable). Hair should be up out of their face. For safety reasons jewelry is never allowed!
 
Can the girls wear stud earrings?
Cheerleaders will only be permitted to wear stud earrings if they have newly pierced ears.  In this case they will be required to wear bandaids over their earrings. This is a safety precaution.
 
Can the cheerleaders wear their hair in braids?
Yes, as long as hair is pulled back away from their face and off of their shoulders.  This is a safety precaution.
 
What should my cheerleader bring to practice?
WATER and/or gatorade. Please do not send your cheerleader with soda  or juice! We also recommend purchasing a frog togg (http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/frogg-toggs-174-chilly-pad-8482-hi-vis-yellow-cooling-towel/pid-26643?color=Yellow&N=129184653&Ntt=frog+tog&Ntk=All).  Your coach may require you to bring a pen/pencil and list of cheers in a folder.
 
Will we still have practice on meet-the-teacher night?
Practice will be cancelled for meet-the-teacher.
 
When will we have the game schedule for the season?
Game schedules will be sent out to all coaches as soon the LEAYSA Cheer board has received it from the LEAYSA Football board.  The Lobo cheer season usually consists of an 8 game season, unless teams make it to the playoffs.  Games will more than likely begin in September.  More information will follow as it becomes available.
 
Will there be a traveling team to cheer for the competitive football teams?
LEAYSA Cheer will not be travelling with the competitive football teams.

Will there be fees to enter football games?
Yes, the football league charges $5 for adults, $2 for students, 4 and under are free. Cheerleaders and coaches are also free. 
 
What weather conditions would cause a delay and/or cancellation of practice and/or games?
Practice and games will be delayed and/or cancelled if lightening is seen. Cheerleaders will cheer and practice in the rain.  For games, we ask cheerleaders to wear a clear poncho. During the extreme summer heat we will limit physical activity and allow for frequent water breaks. 
 
When will the season start and end?
The season will start at our first practice.  For rec teams, practice will begin in August .  Football games will begin in September (We will not have a date until LEAYSA Football has finished their schedule). And our season will end for our rec teams at our Annual Extravaganza in November. 
 
 

Are scholarships available?

The LEAYSA Cheer Board firmly believes that each child who wishes to participate in cheerleading should be entitled to do so, regardless of skill, gender, or financial circumstances. Therefore we will strive to provide those cheerleaders with the assistance needed to participate in the LEAYSA Cheer Program. Scholarships will be based on financial need and available funds.

To apply for a scholarship for the 2024 Fall Cheerleading Season please complete the following form no later than April 15, 2024. 

 
 
I’ve changed my mind and my son/daughter will not be cheering this season, can I get a refund?
Unfortunately, because uniforms are custom made there is no return on them and for this reason LEAYSA Cheer is unable to process refunds after your child has been fit for her uniform. Refunds may be given prior to the fittings date however LEAYSA Cheer cannot refund processing and handling fees.
 
 
When and where is cheer camp?
LEAYSA Cheer will attend cheer camp at Express Cheer located at 9550 John W Elliott Dr, Ste 104, Frisco, TX 75033. Camp will last a total of 4 hours and will conclude with a parent show-off. 
 
What if my cheerleader cannot attend Cheer Camp?
If you are unable to attend cheer camp your cheerleader's coach will be able to get him/her caught up and teach him/her everything that was missed.
 
When and how is homecoming celebrated?
Homecoming is celebrated on 2 separate occasions with LEAYSA Cheer. 
LEAYSA Football will have a separate homecoming from the High School’s homecoming date.  LEAYSA Cheer will celebrate with optional homecoming mums, signs and posters, and lots of fun. This date is chosen by the LEAYSA Football Board.  As soon as LEAYSA Cheer knows the exact date we will inform coaches.
We will also celebrate the High School's homecoming.  LEAYSA Cheer is invited to participate in the annual homecoming parade and pep rally. Squads will be allowed to enter a float into the parade and decorate this float according the the High School's homecoming theme.  The date and theme are chosen by the High School. As soon as LEAYSA Cheer knows the exact date we will inform coaches.
 
When and what is the extravaganza?
Extravaganza will be held at the end of the season In November, exact date TBD. This is our annual cheer "show-off".  Squads will learn a routine consisting of a cheer, chant, dance, jumps and stunt and will compete against other squads in their age division. Cheerleaders will also receive their end-of-season trophy at this time.  Everyone is invited to come watch! 
 
 
What fundraisers will LEAYSA Cheer participate in?
LEAYSA Cheer will have monthly spirit nights! These also double as great team bonding events!
 
What does the money for fundraisers go towards?
Any money earned from LEAYSA Cheer fundraisers will go towards bettering the league and making the best organization for the youth of Little Elm.
